Kartepe Kayak Merkezi
Kartepe, one of the peaks of the Samanlı Mountains in the Maşukiye district of Kocaeli, is a very popular center for winter season ski tourism. It is relatively affordable compared to other regions and attracts with its proximity to Istanbul. With its forests and natural beauty, you can enjoy this winter vacation either as a day trip or as an accommodation.
İzmit Saat Kulesi
Located in the Izmit district of Kocaeli, the tower was built by Izmit Municipality in 1902 on the 25th anniversary of the accession of Abdulhamid II to the throne.
It was built by Musa Kazım Bey, the Mutasarrıfi of Izmit, and was constructed with travertine stones brought from Hereke and Tavşancıl.
Izmit Clock Tower, which has an elegant appearance where you can see the neoclassical architectural work, has dimensions of 3.65 meters – 3.65 square meters and there are fountains on three sides.
Maşukiye
Maşukiye, formerly known as Voçbe Hable, was founded when Circassians settled in the region during the Caucasian-Russian Wars that ended in 1864. The name of Maşukiye, which has a nature reminiscent of the Black Sea vegetation, comes from maşuk, which means lover. Maşukiye, which has recently increased its popularity, is very busy especially on weekends with people coming from the nearby region.
